Mitchell Roll published 1984.
Colin Campbell, The Double Tressure, 1988, provides the most detailed description
in print of the contents of this roll.
This armorial was discovered by Dr D L Galbreath in the Royal
Library in the Hague in 1949. Inside the cover is written Armoiries des maisons
illustres d' Escosse so presumably it was at some stage in France. By 1795 it
was in the Hague. Dating is made difficult by certain of the leaves in the peers
section being missing, but the roll reflects no change in the Scottish peerage
made after 4th November 1590. It may well be that it was compiled in connection.
